1 in 10 visitors to a porn site is under 10yrs (Bitdefender). That stat is from 2016, how many more kids, at increasingly younger ages, have smartphones today?
Porn as a Part of Life?
We are wired for sex but our self/control center doesn’t fully developed until ~25yrs. Porn is designed to sexually arouse but doesn’t show real life, “real” bodies, or realities of sex, including pregnancy and STD’s.
A darker side to Porn
- It can be used to groom or desensitize children to sexual acts or abuse at early ages– in one known case, a 3yr old.
- Porn is proven addictive and drug-like for viewers, regardless of age.
- Porn sites don’t check viewer ages. They are designed to hook, regardless of age or gender, for potential future sales.
There’s been a 15,000% increase in child sexual abuse material online since 2006.

The issue has many facets.
You may have digital security at home, but don’t know what your child may see in the playground or on a playdate.
We need to open conversations now.
