Not Believing Kids Strikes Again?! 74yr Accused of Sexual Contact with Boys at Pool Acquitted

For anyone who’s taken the “Prevent It: Taking Action to S.T.O.P. Sexual Child Abuse / Action Ondernemen om Seksueel Kindermisbruik te Voorkomen” workshop, the myth busting section is always an eye opener. When it comes to the long held belief that kids lie about abuse, it is well researched that in over 95% of cases where the children or youth have disclosed, it is ultimately proven to be true. But not everyone has taken the workshop or seen the stats.

It’s a Wrap! Taboo Talk at Elementary School & The Video That Blew Us All Away

The Christmas season is upon us, and one of the year’s highlights for me was the Taboo Coffee Talk at Elementary School De Schelp. Wowza! “IDK What to Do” – Teen Boys Incresingly Victims of Sextortion

Whether it’s sexual abuse, sexual exploitation, or blackmail with nude images. It’s not just girls. Boys are also affected, devastated. And it’s happening more often than you think. The whole boystoo is a social/cultural concept I myth bust in every “Prevent It!” workshop.

24yr accused of blackmailing 100+ minors with nude images

Nude Images & Blackmail.

It’s a real dangerm, especially for youth, in the age of digital sharing of everything from personal data to private messages and images. A landmark announcement from Dutch Public Prosecutor’s Office (Openbare Ministerie) re. a 24jr old young man who seduced young girls into sending him naked pictures of themselves, and then threatened to go public with these images if they didn’t pay him.

Mental and social fall-out for the victims is horrendous.

I recall the young boy who killed himself after a naked picture of his was posted online. While looking up the case, I found more similar stories. #heartbreaking

Tip: Teach kids, from an earlier-than-you-think age, to be mindful of images they send or post on the internet or social media. And that posting nude images is a REAL red flag danger and action.

Tip: I use a phone cam mini cover (a glitter plush sticker, but there are more official items with actual sliders). These are good teaching tools to discuss and help remind about boundaries–physical AND digital. <3

What is Grooming & Quick Signals

Proteges, shoe-in’s, there’s an age-old practice of preparing someone for a position. The same is true in the CSA world, that is, grooming a child for abuse. This makes them more open to it, or that they may not even see it as abuse (e.g the story pop singer Rita …

Headlines & Gender Disparity: “Female teacher has ‘tryst’ with 13y/o boy” vs “Male teacher ‘rapes’ 13y/o girl”

I was looking for the newspaper headline and photo that made me want to write this post. I couldn’t find it in my twitter feed or mailbox, but in the process, saw multiple cases like this. It wasn’t just actual language describing a crime was skewed, it was the whole …
